History of Emporium
The Emporium Software website opened in June, 2002, as a way of promoting the Pikker stock market trading system analysis software. I chose the name “Emporium” because I historically entered the business name “Mark's Emporium” when I registered new software. At that time, I hosted the web site on my local PC, using a dynamic DNS server to direct the emporium-sw.com domain name that I had registered to my DSL connection, which I kept active 24 hrs.
Shortly after I published the earliest versions of Pikker, I acquired a professional hosting service, professional web site development software, and began learning the technicalities of designing and maintaining a web site. Since then, I have continued to expand my web design skills.
In 2003, I decided to expand into the retail sector. I set up Emporium Sales as sole proprietorship in the State of Colorado. I acquired the tools necessary to sell on eBay, did some rudimentary market research, acquired some merchandise from local wholesalers, and set up shop as an eBay entrepeneur.
After several months of profitable selling on eBay, I was approached by a relative who wanted to set up an e-commerce web site to sell landscaping and pond construction supplies. I stepped up to the challenge, and installed a top quality shopping cart system. Within a few weeks, we had thousands of products listed on the web site. Taking this experience with the e-commerce solutions, I proceeded to build BazaarMart.com. Since that time, I have continued to build and expand my professional endeavors and expertise.
